You will develop practical skills and work on clients in a commercial salon environment. Students also develop a sound knowledge of health and safety, client care and communication. The units studied include:
Facial and body electrical treatments
Lash extensions
Tanning
Micro-dermabrasion
Swedish / pre-blended massage
Health and safety and related theory
Anatomy and physiology

About this course
This qualification may lead directly into employment as a senior beauty therapist in a beauty salon/spa or self employment.
Or you could progress on to Level 3 in Spa and Body Treatments or the Foundation Degree in Spa Management.
A minimum of three GCSEs grade C or above including maths, English and preferably science or equivalent Essential Skills Wales (ESW) communication and application of number.
Or a related Level 2 qualification.
All applicants will be required to attend a trade test and one to one interview with subject specialists. Applicants must have the ability to work as a member of a team and possess excellent communication skills.

Course programme
You will attend college for 17 hours per week.
Practical skills are assessed throughout the course during client sessions. Students will undertake assignments and written tests for each unit of study. Students attend work placement one day per week and this is an integral part of the course.
You will also be required to produce a portfolio of evidence. There is home study as directed by the tutors.
