This course is the first step on the professional ladder and shows you have the competencies to apply basic principles of horse care. Suitable for anyone aged 14 years and over who cares for and/or rides horses regularly. It is designed to give you a good foundation of equine knowledge and a solid base on which to build your riding skills. The course is aimed at anyone wanting to formalise their horse skills and knowledge to a demonstrable level of qualification (BHS Stage 1 equivalent). Please note the maximum rider weight limit is 14 stone (182lbs).

The following course, offered by Bridgewater College, will help you improve your skills and achieve your professional goals. During the program you will study different subjects which are deemed to be useful for those who want to enhance their professional career. Sign up for more information!The course will cover all aspects of basic horse husbandry and care. Topics will include grooming, handling, shoeing, horse health, basic equine behaviour and riding on the flat with & without stirrups. The BHS Progressive Riding Test consists of six tests. All six tests have equitation and stable management sections, both of which can be taken separately.
