In Emagister we present the IGCSE biology course, which is designed to follow the structure of the Edexcel 4BI1 specification. In combination with other subjects appropriate for admission to the IGCSE, the course is a perfect preparation for those who wish to study biology or other A-level biological subjects.

The course is designed to give participants an extensive understanding of biological facts, concepts and principles and to develop skills in biological research and to assess the benefits and drawbacks of current scientific progress.

Each lesson of the IGCSE Biology course begins with a set of well-established objectives and an explanation of its place in the general program of study. Effective learning is promoted through frequent activities and self-assessment tests. The course includes 13 assignments marked by a tutor (TMA) that include 2 mock exam assignments.

We try that the students of this course also take advantage of the opportunity to learn from the richness of Twig's resources to which this course is related. Twig has produced more than a thousand educational films, especially for geography, math and science, and these perfect the lesson materials here to enhance the learning experience.

To take into account

There are no prerequisites for starting this course. Please Note: We cannot accept students who are under 18 years old on this course. We do have an alternative IGCSE course option for students who are under 18. Please email us if you require additional information about this alternative course.

Every student receives a personal tutor with whom they need to keep in regular contact. The essential relationship between student and tutor begins with an introductory letter and a telephone call to help decide on a study plan. All tutors are fully qualified teachers holding either a Postgraduate Certificate in Education or a degree in education. So when you enrol on a home study course you can be assured of the assistance of a professionally qualified subject specific tutor. We don't set a limit on how often you can contact your tutor. The advice and encouragement our tutors provide are an important part of your learning experience. You can contact your tutor by Phone, Post or Email. There are tutor-marked assignments (TMA's) in every course. These help the student consolidate the learning he or she has done and prepare for examinations. All tutors have a local rate telephone number such as a 0845 number. This means that when you phone your tutor it will only cost you the price of a local call. Whilst you are still actively submitting assignments, you should expect to be in contact with your tutor regularly. Remember, to get the most out of your tutor, you will need to tell them when you need assistance.
