BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science
Mode: full-time
The Biomedical Science course covers a range of biological and molecular science areas. It is delivered in collaboration with local hospital laboratories, which you will visit, as well as receiving lectures from laboratory staff at the University.
The multi-disciplinary approach allows you to investigate normal life processes and study the pathological changes that occur in human disease. The course also provides sound theoretical and practical foundation in a range of laboratory sciences that are used to aid the diagnosis of, or investigate, human diseases.
The final year project may be linked to a hospital or approved medical laboratories.

Career Opportunities
Our graduates are well equipped to work in NHS hospital laboratories, research laboratories and industry, or to progress to a postgraduate degree such as an MSc or PhD. Specific roles include a biomedical scientist in a hospital pathology laboratory or a technical officer in a medical laboratory.
Assessment
Course work: essays, short practical reports and full practical reports (usually 50%).
Examinations and Tests: multiple-choice tests and essay based examinations (usually 50%).
Attendance
For the full-time course you will need to attend lectures, tutorials and lab practicals on two or three full days per week.
