About this course
On this course, you’ll have the chance to delve into how bodily functions at a cellular, tissue and whole body level change during these chronic diseases. You’ll also be able to consider how biomedicine can assist with healthy ageing.
In addition to learning about these key chronic diseases, you’ll have the opportunity to study the biology of common and rare genetic disorders as well as infectious diseases in temperate and tropical climates.
Throughout the course you’ll be supported by academics with doctoral-level expertise in their subjects and experience across the biological sciences. Learning through lectures, workshops, online and personal study, you’ll also be able to get hands-on experience with modern instruments during specialist biological sciences lab sessions.
The third year is your chance to step out of the classroom and into the real world, working for an organisation related to your interests. If you choose to take the optional placement year, you’ll have a great opportunity to put your knowledge into action and pick up invaluable skills that could boost your employability and set you up for a successful future career.
