The BA Liberal Arts with Foundation Year is designed to prepare you for undergraduate study in the wide-range of subjects taught in the School of Arts. You will take two innovative study skills modules and further modules will introduce you to the many exciting ways in which we study the Arts. It is also possible to take a beginner- or intermediate-level language module (French, German, Italian, Japanese or Spanish) as part of the Foundation Year.

This programme allows you to build your confidence, gain core knowledge and key skills needed to succeed in undergraduate degrees in the Arts. You will get a taste of the specific subjects you are interested in and an understanding of their career potential.

Upon successful completion of the Foundation Year, you can progress on to our three-year, full-time, evening study BA Liberal Arts or one of the following three-year, full-time evening study undergraduate programmes:

About this course

Graduates can pursue careers in education, public administration, legal work, business and management, the arts and creative industries, journalism and publishing, third sector and campaigning. This degree may also be useful in becoming an arts administrator, journal/newspaper editor, museum/gallery curator, higher education lecturer or community arts worker.

COURSE STRUCTURE

For the Foundation Year, you undertake three core modules and choose one option module: either The Arts: Questioning the Contemporary World or a language module.

If you successfully complete these modules, you will automatically advance on to our three-year, full-time, evening study BA Liberal Arts or you may transfer onto one of the undergraduate degrees listed above.
