Biotechnology with a Year in Industry/Research

Modules shown are for the current academic year, and are subject to change depending on your year of entry.

You will take the following four core modules, run in parallel, which provide the fundamental building blocks:

• Molecular Biology
• Proteins and Enzymes
• Biological Chemistry
• Cell Biology

In the second year you will take six core modules and select one optional module from the list below.

• Fundamentals of Molecular Biochemistry
• Genes and Genomics
• Integrative Cell Biology
• Protein Science
• Topics in Biotechnology
• Tutored Dissertation

You will choose one of the following modules:

• Imperial Horizons
• Business for Professional Engineers and Scientists

The third year is spent either working in industry or completing a piece of research.

In the fourth year you choose one module from each group below, in addition to completing Science Communication and either a laboratory-based research project or a literature-based dissertation.

You can specialise by selecting modules and a research topic that fit your interests and career plans.
