The bodyguard is the security specialist who works with celebrities, politicians,
well-known (and lesser-known) personalities who must protect against
dangerous situations or, more simply, from the intrusiveness of fans. The
possibilities are many because a bodyguard can happen to escort the pop star
of the moment, a parliamentarian, an anti-mafia magistrate or an
entrepreneur (unknown to most) who risks his life, because of the business
started in sensitive places in the world. But not only that: the same bodyguard
can be asked to collaborate with the police and to carry out security services
in airports, railway stations and ports. Or during public events and events that
require special monitoring. The figure of the bodyguard does not yet enjoy
specific regulatory recognition. To give directions, in this sense, it is the 1931
“Consolidated Law of Public Security Laws”, which dedicates the entire Title IV
to “Private guards, security institutes and private investigations”. The text
specifically explains that the “private security guard” is responsible for “the
supervision or custody of movable or real estate properties”. And that, in
order to practice the profession, it is necessary to obtain a license from the
prefect.

And that, in order to practice the profession, it is necessary to obtain a license from the prefect. The issue of the license is subject to the payment of a deposit at the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, which is required to guarantee compliance with the various obligations which must be observed. In the event of non-compliance, in fact, the prefect can order that the entire deposit (or a part of it) be devolved to the State Treasury. As for the requirements set out in the ""Consolidated Law on Public Safety"": the aspiring ""special guards"" must be Italian citizens or citizens of an EU member state, be at least 18 years old, have not been convicted of a crime and have excellent political and moral conduct.
