Course programme

The number of women wearing larger cup sizes is increasing at a steady rate and presents an opportunity for sales growth. This is good news for the lingerie industry!

Course Aims

Understanding the complicated 3D shape that a bra has to fit and support can only be discovered by measured experimentation. Design technicians in the industry rarely have the time - or sanction - to experiment and skills are built up by accident or anecdote. This course offers the opportunity to develop your understanding of bra sizing and fitting.

Objectives

By the end of the course you should...

  • Consider the physical changes that affect bra fit
  • Map the upper bodyshape
  • Construct block patterns which reflect that bodyshape
  • Understand drafting requirements for different bra styles
  • Compare how different materials and construction methods affect the fit of the pattern
  • Recognise a successful process to first fit
  • Apply a sympathetic size grading system

If you do not feel that this course is 100% relevant or you do not feel that the course entirely meets your needs, we are able to develop bespoke courses tailored to your specific requirements - we can even deliver dedicated short courses overseas and in-house.
