This course will assess your welding skills to the stated British standard required for a career in the welding industry. You will need to demonstrate that you can follow a weld procedure and produce welds to the given standard.

About this course

You will produce welds that demonstrate your ability to a given standard in one of the following welding processes: – MIG or TIG. The specific tests to be carried out are dependent upon the requirements of the individual welder e.g. Butt, Fillet, Lap. Position; Flat, Vertical, over-head.

Intermediate ability who wish to extend their skills in order to progress their career as a welding tradesman.

2 year certificate issued when codes are passed.

The Vogal Training assessor will assess you through the production of stated welds, following the welding procedure. Each weld will be visually and destructively tested, prior to a judgement being made.

Test 3 - Butt Weld in Plate (no backing, welded from one side)
Test 4 - Butt Weld in Plate (welded from both sides)
Test 5 - Butt Weld in Plate (with permanent backing)
Test 6 - Butt Weld in Plate (with temporary backing)
Test 7 - Fillet Weld in Plate
Test 8 - Butt Weld in Pipe (without backing)
Test 9 - Butt Weld in Pipe (with permanent backing)
