Course programme

Artificial Intelligence and Robotics are linked by the desire to create artificial systems, and this has increasingly been commercialised by industry. Specific examples of current and emerging applications include home robots (both for fun and as assistants to those with special needs); intelligent industrial robotics, agent-based supply chain management systems, and medical robotics. The scheme offers a sound grounding in the underlying technologies, as well as vocational skills.

The Artificial Intelligence and Robotics degree will give you a firm foundation in computing skills that include:

  • Programming
  • Unix and Windows
  • Software design
  • Software engineering
  • Professional issues in software engineering

It will emphasise specialised skills in the following areas:

  • Theoretical understanding of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics
  • Practical application of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics concepts
  • Tools to develop Artificial Intelligence and Robotics applications
  • Interaction with different but related techniques such as Vision, Intelligent Agents in games programming, and Mobile Computing.

Final year projects

Some of our students recently completed the following examples for their final year projects:

  • A 4-legged robot
  • Post delivering mobile robot
  • Heart rate monitor.
