In Year 1 you'll learn about the foundations of nursing theory and practice, and focus on the skills required for safe practice. You'll gain an understanding of the multi-professional team working approach within healthcare and undertake two practice placements, giving you experience in different healthcare environments.

Year 2 will focus on developing your professional identity and experience. You'll broaden and deepen your nursing knowledge, enabling you to make a greater contribution to practice. Modules will develop your clinical practice in the holistic care of the child and family. You'll be able to appraise basic principles and theories to support arguments with evidence and reason, demonstrating an awareness of alternative contexts.

Your final year will focus on your professional ability and fitness for practice. Your knowledge and context will be more specialised, requiring higher level skills of synthesis, analysis and evaluation. You'll take more responsibility for your own learning as teaching and practice becomes more challenging, and explore management and leadership theories. You'll gain further practice experience in a variety of care settings, enabling you to effectively contribute to the delivery of care.
