Diagnostic Imaging is central to health care today and is critical in the diagnosis and treatment of trauma and disease. Diagnostic radiographers produce and interpret images of the human body.



Most of Scotland’s diagnostic radiographers graduate from GCU, equipped with the knowledge, competencies and attributes needed to practice in the modern health and social care services.

Course programme

Before applying, it is advisable to visit Diagnostic Imaging and Radiography centres.
SQA Higher: BBBB including English and two sciences, plus Nat 5 Maths at B
A level: BCC including two sciences with one at B, plus GCSE English and Maths and either Physics or double award science
ILC Higher: B1 B2 B2 B2 including English, two sciences plus Maths at Ordinary Level B
IB Diploma: 24 points including Biology and Physics
Btech Level 3 Extended Diploma: DMM in relevant subject including two sciences.
College: Science-based HNC with B in the Graded Units. Applicants must also hold literacy and numeracy equivalent to National 5 level, with English being preferred at Higher Level. Communications 4 and Literature 1 are accepted in lieu of Higher English. SWAP Access to Radiography at Kelvin College is also considered.
