This degree will provide a thorough grounding in the theoretical principles and essential skills needed to work within the ethos of Community and Development with families and communities. It provides placement opportunities that give you an understanding of how to apply the theory in practice. You will explore the social, economic, spiritual and political factors affecting family and community wellbeing within the UK and on a global basis, while examining the leadership and management skills needed to work effectively with other professionals in an integrated way. The programme will give you the knowledge to communicate with diverse and vulnerable groups and work within legal, ethical and professional boundaries. You can tailor the course to your personal interests and potential career path through a choice of optional, work-related and dissertation modules.

International students enrolling on the programme in academic year 2017/18 are £11,575 per annum.

How will I be assessed? You will be assessed in a variety of ways, including assignments, presentations, portfolios and seminars. You will also be assessed in your placement setting. There are no formal written examinations as part of the current assessment methods on this programme. Who will be teaching me? The programme team comprises tutors from a variety of backgrounds. You will be taught by experts in community development, criminal justice, health and social care, nutrition, psychology and social work. External speakers also participate in the delivery of the programme and bring additional, specific knowledge and expertise to their guest lectures.
