Dietetics is the application of the science of nutrition to the prevention and treatment of disease.
GCU has the longest running Dietetics programme in the UK, which covers the scientific basis of human health and the management of disease with the assistance of diet. It provides an in-depth understanding of nutrition and metabolism, gained from the study of physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, food science, psychology and sociology.
Graduate employment rates in dietetics are very high, with jobs located throughout the UK and further afield. Most graduates seek employment in the NHS, specialising in areas such as paediatrics, nutritional support, oncology, renal, critical care and community dietetics.
The programme is accredited with the British Dietetic Association and the Health and Care Professions Council. It leads to eligibility to apply for HCPC registration.
