The BSc Public Health Practice: Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) degree is normally a one year course for nurses or midwives who want to move their career forward with pathways in Health Visiting, School Nursing, Sexual Health and Occupational Health Nursing.
It is only open to registered nurses and midwives, usually with sponsorship from the National Health Service. The degree course is designed to develop your knowledge and skills, helping you to provide evidence based public health practice to several different groups.

Year 1
The practice modules will be integrated into the programme and you will have the opportunity to consolidate what you learn at university under the supervision of a recognised practice teacher (NMC 2008). You will also be expected to integrate what you learn during the practice modules into the university based modules where you will be expected to share this learning with the rest of the cohort and this will contribute towards your award.
