Year 1

In your first year, you will gain a solid grasp of tourism and hospitality operations. You will examine standards and service consistency in a range of areas, from food and drink operations, front office and managing facilities to marketing and business, enabling you to gain an insight into the various aspects of the tourism industry.

Year 2

Building on your growing knowledge, in your second year you will discover what it takes to plan, manage and run a tourism or hospitality business. You will work on modules based on hospitality, tourism and management, developing the skills you will need on the ground – from getting to grips with finances to dealing with staff, from the most junior member to the chief executive. You will also learn the methods and protocols required to collect, analyse and interpret data.

Optional placement year

If you choose, you can take a work placement after your second year, gaining valuable hands-on experience working abroad and putting your knowledge and skills to use in a real world context. Final year

In your final year you will draw together the knowledge, understanding and skills gained from your studies so far and focus in on a particular topic to complete your final thesis. You will investigate the details of strategic and operational management challenges and choose a topic to add to your studies, such as food and service systems, intercultural communication or a language. If you are interested in a specific industry sector, there are options to customise modules for your chosen area.
