BSc Professional Practice (Nursing) with work placement

The Faculty of Health Sport and Science has many years experience in supporting International students. We would like to offer you an exciting opportunity to carry out a work placement as part of your course - at no extra cost.

A placement would not only provide valuable work experience, but would also help you to fully integrate policies, procedures and evidence-based practice into your professional practice.

The programme is designed for overseas qualified nurses. It will provide you with a wider understanding of the UK health care system and allow you to follow through on patient care episodes. This valuable knowledge can then be transferred to your practice in the future. The placement will be fully assessed.

Students will have to complete the following modules

Core modules

• Project module
• Research
• ONP ( if eligible)
• Leadership in health and social care

Plus choice of option modules from:-

• Acute and critical care
• Mental health
• Infection control
• Pain management

This post-qualification award offers career enhancement and progression by enabling you to exercise higher levels of judgement, discretion and decision making in clinical care. Thus enabling you to function more effectively in a multi-professional setting. The course is also designed to accommodate professionals from a range of backgrounds who want to progress their academic and practical base of care. Students benefit from the Faculty’s modern facilities, which includes our state of the art Simulation Centre. You can tailor your study to extend your expertise in professional practice in relation to your specific work setting/client group, and all Professional Practice modules allow you to apply theories to your own practice (check out the following links):-

What You Will Study

You will study the core subject areas of Research and Professional Practice, Leadership in Health and Social Care and undertake a Professional Project. You will be able to select from an exciting range of subjects designed to enhance and extend your current knowledge. These choices will be dependent on your area of interest, your experience and the areas of nursing you wish to specialize in. For those international students who are eligible you can undertake the Overseas Nursing module as one of the subject choices

Throughout your study, you will explore a wide range of health and wellbeing issues and the degree will allow you to develop your role as a graduate practitioner.

Please find some brief outline of your timetable should you wish to complete a work placement:

October 2011 - June 2012: 80 credits of study
July 2012 - December 2012: Work Placements (With a reflective portfolio)
January 2013 - June 2013: Professional Project (40 credits)

Course Fee : £8300.00 (excluding registration and examination fees)
