Course programme
Course description: This qualification is equivalent to three A levels and contains specific accounting units as well as business subjects. As an integral part of the course, you will also be studying to achieve the specialist AAT Foundation accountancy qualification.
The course will require students to undertake a minimum of three days in college each week. The course includes a variety of units, including:

The AAT Foundation elements of the course includes units such as making and recording payments, recording income and receipts, preparing ledger balances and an initial trial balance, working with computers/computerised accounts, achieving personal effectiveness, health and safety and supplying information for management control.
Entry requirements: Applicants should have 5 GCSEs grades A* - C including English and Maths at minimum grade D, or achievement at Merit grade for progression from the BTEC Level 2 Diploma, or equivalent.
Learning outcome: The qualification can prepare learners for direct employment in a range of business related areas with a particular focus on Accounts.
Objective: This course has been developed by BTEC to provide a nationally recognised and vocationally specific qualification with which to enter employment or to progress to higher education to undertake a degree in business and/or management, or accounts.
Assessment: The course is assessed through coursework using a variety of assessment methods including assignments, presentation, reports, observations and discussion.You will achieve either a Pass, Merit or Distinction for each unit and the overall grade for the course will be assessed on the level of achievement in all units. If you perform exceptionally throughout the course you will be awarded a Distinction.
Academic progression: Successful students could go on to further study, for instance at degree level, or undertake a professional qualification.
Career progression: Students may progress directly into employment in a business or accountancy position, and may continue training in the workplace.
