The course is designed to provide training for those in the security sector

It demonstrates that a candidate has displayed the knowledge, understanding and skills learners need to apply for a licence to practice from the Security Industry Authority

Course Content
The Course consists of 2 Units:
Unit 1: CCTV Control Room Principles - 15 Hours
Unit 2: CCTV Control Room Practises - 15 Hours
Learning Outcomes
Unit 1: CCTV Control Room Principles
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of the CCTV operator relating to teamwork, reporting and CCTV equipment operation
- Know about the system Codes of Practice and Procedures Manual documents, and the use of communication equipment in the control room with emergency services and other agencies
- Understand the legislation and legal framework surrounding CCTV operation, dealing with incidents and evidential compliance
- Understand health and safety at work, including risk assessment relevant to CCTV operators, and fire and emergency procedures inside and outside the CCTV Control room.
Unit 2: CCTV Control Room Practises
- Be able to operate CCTV equipment
- Be able to use CCTV communication systems
- Be able to use CCTV control room communications equipment and techniques when dealing with incidents
- Be able to apply relevant legislation within the legal framework.
Assessment
Unit 1 is assessed via a multiple- choice examination (70% pass mark)
Unit 2 is assessed internally, with the candidate being expected to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the topics covered.
