About this course

You will need at least 4 GCSEs in the C-E range, preferably to include two at grade C or above or an appropriate Level 1 qualification (with a Merit grade). An interest in working with animals and some experience in caring for animals is also required.

What will I do on this course?

The BTEC First Diploma in Animal Care is a very practical course that will provide you with hands-on experience of both large and small animals. Theory lessons in subjects such as animal health, biology and business studies will provide you with relevant knowledge of the animal care industry.

You will be given the opportunity to achieve additional qualifications
alongside your main course. These will include Functional Skills qualifications and can also include more specialist awards that are relevant to the subject you are studying.

How will I be assessed?
This qualification is assessed on a continuous basis through a combination of practical work and written coursework.
