About this course
You will need at least 4 GCSEs in the C-E range, preferably to include two at grade C or above or an appropriate Level 1 qualification. Some riding experience and knowledge of horses is required. Before starting the course you will be given a riding assessment. Please note it is possible to complete the First Diploma in Horse Care without taking the riding option.

What will I do on this course?
This course provides you with a valuable introduction to careers in the equine industry.
The topics you will study include:
Developing riding and practical horse care skills
· Theory of riding
· Horse anatomy
· Introduction to business studies.
You will be given the opportunity to achieve additional qualifications alongside your main course, including starting to train for British Horse Society (BHS) examinations. You will also gain Functional Skills qualifications.
How will I be assessed?
This course is assessed on a continuous basis through a combination of practical assessments of your riding skills and horse husbandry, together with some written coursework.
