What Will I Learn?

This course will give you skills in video production, audio production and animation that will be used to develop your own ‘multi-media products’ to assist in achieving your creative potential. You will learn about the structure of the industry, focusing on the organisation of various companies and available jobs, including product targeting and market research. The First Diploma in Media is a level 2 course, equivalent to four GCSEs grades A* - C, and is designed to give you an introduction to creative technologies in the media industry.

What Will It Be Like?

Working in groups and individually you will use specially designed media spaces including video editing facilities, recording studios and animation suites to develop project ideas, as well as taking part in workshops and seminars to widen your knowledge and experience of the media industry.

How Much Time Will I Need?

This is a full time course that lasts from September to July. Weekly sessions will add up to about 12-14 hours of contact time and you will be expected to spend a significant amount of your own time working on projects and assignments.

Do I Qualify?

You need 4 GCSEs at any grade (or equivalent) including basic IT skills.
