Information about the course

A BTEC First Diploma is a practical, work-related course. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activites and demands.

It introduces you to the employment area you have chosen and provides a good basis to go on to a more advanced work-related qualification.

Course content

This course is made up of 6 units - three units that are mandatory and three specialist units. The specialist units enable you to study particular areas in more depth.

- The UK Travel & Tourism Industry
- Exploring Customer Service in the Travel & Tourism Industry
- UK Travel & Tourism Destinations

SPECIALIST UNITS: (3 of these to be studied)

- European Holiday Destinations
- Exploring Marketing in Travel & Tourism

- Business skills for Travel & Tourism

Additionality

Key skills Communication.

There may be an opportunity to gain the NCFE Certificate in Customer Service.

Assessment

Continuous assessment throughout the course and a Portfolio of work.

Progression

Further Study A BTEC First Diploma at Merit level provides a good grounding to go on to a more advanced course such as the BTEC National Certificate in Travel & Tourism or other A level’s or equivalent course.
