About this course
To qualify to get a place on the course, you should have GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or above, as well as either:
· 2 A Levels
· A BTEC National
· A GNVQ Advanced
· Or equivalent
If you do not have these qualifications, but do have considerable work related experience in the area you may still be eligible.

Course Content: This course will provide you with a wide range of knowledge, skills and experience, preparing you for a career within the computing industry. During the course you will cover various modules including Systems Analysis; Introduction to Programming with C#.NET; Computer Architecture; Database Design/Access VBA Programming and Project Management. You will study these modules in your first year of study as compulsory units. In your second year of study, you will choose subjects to study at greater depth. These include VB.NET programming with ODBC database connectivity; Dreamweaver; ASP.NET; Javascript; SQL; DHTML; CSS; e-Commerce and Web Site Management.
Special Features: Based at the Ashton Centre, Beaufort Road. Students will have access to a fully equipped suite with the latest I.T. equipment and up to date Moodle - LearningBox (Virtual Learning Environment). The only assessment method used is course work based on practical assignments which require application of knowledge to practical case studies.
Course Format: A variety of teaching methods are used including individual and group work studying software applications, practical demonstrations videos and visits and personal research.
Progression: On successful completion of the course you will have various opportunities in the area of computing including Computer Programming, Systems Analysis, and Design and Management. In addition to specialist careers, there is a wide range of opportunities in business where in-depth knowledge of computer systems is a valuable asset. Depending on how related the university degree applied for after HND is, students may be able to get entry point 3 (last year) in universities to convert their qualification to BSc or BA.
