Who is this course for?

16+ who have just left school but need additional time and support to reach the standard required for level 2 study. This is a foundation course which will provide you with under pinning Science skills as well as develop your study skills and Maths and English.

What qualifications or experience do I need ?

Preferable E3 in English and Maths and double E in science GCSE. Maths and English test on interview.

What will I study ?

Biology, Chemistry and Physics as well as maths and English. This is a foundation course designed to help students prepare for a BTEC level 2 Applied Science programme or a related course.

How will I be assessed ?

Assignment based coursework - all units will be assessed and graded with a Pass grade - All units must be completed to achieve the course. You will also be expected to improve your Maths and English in order to support your progression to a level 2 course.

What qualifications could I achieve ?

BTEC L1 Diploma in Applied Science With functional skills Maths and English.

How do I join the course ?

You will need to complete an application form and be interviewed by a member of the course team or other designated interviewer. And undertake an English and maths assessment.

Will I need an interview ?

Yes along with a BKSB test to assess your current level or Maths and English.
