Course programme
The core of this diploma is performance and development of drama. You will produce and perform in a varied repertoire up to a final group performance.
At the same time, you will develop skills in devising plays, acting, movement and dance, physical theatre, performing scripted plays and working in the performing arts industry.
You will develop your English and Maths skills through the performing arts production processes and your professional development in the performing arts industry.
You will need four GCSEs at grade D or above (which must include one Humanities subject). Alternatively, you need a Level 1 vocational qualification, including Functional Skills at Level 1.
You must have a good reference from your school, employer or relevant sponsor, and must complete an audition and interview prior to full enrolment.
Assessment is through coursework assignments, practical work and public drama performances.
You can progress to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts, also offered by City and Islington College. Successful completion of this course will then enable you to progress to drama school or university to study a related course. Some students move straight into work in the Performing Arts.
