Course description: The IMI (Institute of the Motor Industry) level 2 Extended Diploma in Motorsport Vehicle Maintenance and Repair is aimed at young people (16-18) who are planning a career as an Automotive Technician within the Motorsport industry. Course requirements are 3 GCSE grade c's in English,Maths and science and an interest in Motorsport. Practical skills and knowledge are an advantage but not a requirement.
The course will provide you with a broad breadth of learning within three applied units, where the criteria is contextualised for the retail motor industry. The applied units include the following:
Vehicle Science
Vehicle Maths
Electric and electronics
The course also includes elements of health and safety, general housekeeping and industry standard repair techniques covering all aspects of the modern motorsport vehicle. Also covered will be maths and science related to motor vehicles as well as electric and electronic units.
Your time will be divided into 60% classroom delivery and 40% practical activities.
Entry requirements: A total of 3 GCSE's (A to C) Which includes:-
GSCE Grade (A*-C) Maths
GCSE Grade (A*-C) English
GCSE Grade (A-C) Science
Objective: This IMI (Institute of the Motor Industry) diploma in Motorsport Vehicle Maintenance and Repair is aimed at young people who are planning a career as an automotive technician within the motorsport industry.
Assessment: To succesfully complete this course you will need to complete a number of practical assessments and online knowledge assessments. Your time will be divided into 60% classroom delivery and 40% practical activities.
Academic progression: Progression would be onto a IMI Level 3 Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or you could move on to an apprenticeship with an employer.
Career progression: The Extended Diploma in Motorsport Vehicle Maintenance and repair is an ideal course for you to gain the necessary knowledge for a career in the Motorsport industry
