Course programme
Course description: This popular course is ideal if you have already decided to pursue a career in the media, and/or wish to progress the Level 3 Extended Diploma then on to higher education vocational qualifications such as foundation or honours degrees in media related areas.
The course is made up of eighteen units. theory is taught alongside the workshops, enabling you to gain a full understanding of media processes. You will study the following eighteen units:

In addition to your main programme, you will study English and Maths. Depending on your grades on entry, you will study either Functional Skills or GCSEs English and Maths. Please check our English and Maths page for further information.
Entry requirements: Applicants should have four GCSEs at grades A* - C including English and Maths or a Level 2 qualification in a relevant area in addition to GCSE English and Maths at grade A* - C
Objective: This exciting course will give you a comprehensive introduction to the media and a recognised qualification for higher education programmes in media and multimedia.
Assessment: Assessment may take the form of practical work, essays, reports, presentations and group projects.
Academic progression: Initial progression would normally be to the Level 3 Extended Diploma, upon completion of which students will gain an entry qualification for a wide range of higher education courses, including foundation degrees and degrees.
Career progression: The course includes a good mix of practical and theoretical work which will prepare you for a choice of interesting and worthwhile careers in, for example, film production, animation, radio, sound recording and television broadcasting.
