BTEC National Certificate Health and Social Care
This is a two year course of study and is an exciting subject for students who are interested in working with people in a wide range of settings. We offer you the opportunity to study life in depth and the content is varied and interesting.

We enhance our learning experience through work experience (100 hours), having talks from visiting professionals, visiting exhibitions, conferences and health fairs. Teaching methods vary from discussion, independent research projects and multi-media applications.

We aim to create a positive, creative and friendly environment where students are motivated and feel confident to express empathy and understanding with a diverse range of human needs.

What will I study on this course?
1st year: Developing effective communication in Health & Social Care; Equality, diversity and rights in Health & Social Care; Health, safety and security in Health & Social Care; Development through the life stages; Health education, nutrition for Health & Social Care.

2nd year: Fundamentals of anatomy and physiology for Health & Social Care; Personal and professional development in Health & Social Care (100 hours of work experience required); Sociological perspectives for Health & Social Care; Psychological perspectives for Health & Social Care, Research methodology for Health & Social Care; Caring for individuals with additional needs.
