About this course
You will need at least 5 GCSEs in the A*-C range, preferably to include Maths and English, or an appropriate Level 2 qualification such as a BTEC First Diploma in Animal Care (with Merit grades).

This course provides a good balance of practical work and theory lessons. There are some optional units in the second year which give you the opportunity to choose between a more science-based route or a more vocational option. You will be given the opportunity to achieve additional qualifications alongside your main course. These will include Functional Skills qualifications and also include more specialist awards relevant to the subject you are studying. It is possible to complete additional GCSEs alongside the course.

This course is assessed on a continuous basis through a combination of practical work and written coursework.

Progression
Progress to a wide range of animal degree courses. This can include the Foundation Degree in Animal Management at Weston College, which is run in partnership with the University of the West of England or a range of other degree courses including Veterinary Nursing, Animal Behaviour Science or Marine Biology.
On successful completion you may:
Or go directly into employment in a variety of jobs in the animal industry. Achieving this qualification will give you the equivalent of 3 A Levels and provide entry to study degree level courses.
