This course will equip you with the knowledge and practical design skills you need to produce visually exciting textiles for both fashion and interior ranges.
You will study a range of textile disciplines including:
Constructed textiles - woven, knitted, embroidered.
Printed Textiles.
Mixed media.
You will explore and experiment with a range of media techniques enabling you to acquire and develop the basic knowledge and skills essential for design. A strong emphasis is placed on the development of drawing skills throughout.
During the course you will also learn about the following: Colour, surface, materials, print, pattern, knitting, design and illustration, weaving, embroidery, papermaking, drawing, digital imaging including Photoshop and Illustrator, fabrics and the manipulation of materials.
You will also enhance your skills through specialised projects for interior and fashion products with both commercial and craft outcomes.
ProgressionFoundation Degree, BA Honours or HND in a fashion and textile specialism.
You have many career opportunities including textile designer, interior stylist, illustrator, freelance artist and craft designer.
