4 GCSEs at Grades A-C including English

BTEC First Diploma with an overall Merit plus English GCSE at Grade A-C

This popular course will develop your knowledge and understanding of how businesses operate and generate profits for their owners and shareholders. Students should have an interest in understanding organisations, the markets they serve and how to deal with customers effectively.

This is a practical, work-related course. Students learn by completing projects and
assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. Students
focus on a particular subject area and develop a range of specialist skills and knowledge.

You will:
Gain a broad understanding of business and be able to study selected areas in more depth
Develop skills, knowledge and understanding in business
Have an opportunity to apply learning in a practical and realistic way
Follow a programme of study that enables progression to both higher education and
employment within business
Develop key skills that are highly valued by employees and universities
Gain confidence through developing independent learning skills

The course is made up of 18 units studied over 2 years. Units studied include:

* Effective people communication and information

* Introduction to marketing

* Exploring team development

* Managing a business event

but units are subject to confirmation.

You will also have the chance to develop your key skills in one of the following areas: communication, application of number and ICT.

Work Experience may be arranged.

Continuous assessment throughout the course and an assessment of a final portfolio.
