By interview and initial assessment plus 4 GCSEs at grade C or above including Maths or BTEC First Diploma in IT or equivalent, to include at least 2 units at Merit grade and the Key Skills Application of Number qualification at Level 2.

The course aims to provide learners with the practical skills and knowledge in IT to allow them to progress to Higher Education or employment in the computing industry, and includes both software and hardware elements, which may include specialisms such as games programming, networking and/or web development.
The course consists of 18 IT related units studied over two years and in the first year learners have the opportunity to undertake a project with an employer. Learners also have the opportunity to take a Microsoft qualification at an appropriate level. Homework or private study is required. Level of course Level 2
