About this course

Applicants should have a minimum of 4 GCSE passes at Grades C or above including Maths and English, plus a positive Record of Achievement / Progress File or any other related Level 2 qualifications.

Who is this course for?
The BTEC National Diploma is a practical, work-related course aimed mainly at 16 to 19 year olds who would like to pursue a career in the Hospitality Industry. The course is designed to provide an exciting introduction into the world of hospitality at level 3. It will provide you with the knowledge and the skills necessary to succeed in the Hospitality and Catering BTEC National Diploma and prepare you for the progression onto HND or degree courses and employment in a related area - Management training schemes. The course is made up of units in a number of subject areas.

What will I learn?
You will study a variety of subjects and have an active role in producing and serving a range of cuisine in the new kitchen facilities and the high class 'Scholars Restaurant'. You are also expected to complete vocational work experience during the course.You will gain additional qualifications in Food Hygiene and complete up to six Key Skills and Learndirect modules.

Assessment
The course is assessed by a range of methods including projects, assignments, coursework, written tests and practical application.

On Completion Achievement / Progression
On completion of this course, you will be able to progress to HND / Degree courses or enter employment in a related area - Management training schemes within the hospitality and catering profession.
