About this course

At least 4 GCSEs at grade C or above including one from Maths, English Language and Science
OR a merit/distinction in a BTEC First in a related area, plus grade C or above in GCSE English Language.

BTEC National Diploma in Media Production (Television and Film pathway)
Equivalent to 3 A-levels
Gaining a place on a BTEC National course in Media would give you the opportunity to work with a department graded by Ofsted as 'outstanding'.
What will I be studying on the course?
You will study:
· The film and television industries in the UK
· Filming techniques
· Editing techniques
· Animation techniques (in 2D and 3D)
· DVD authoring techniques

What sort of things will I be doing on the course?
· Make different Media products: advertisements; music videos; animated short films; promotional videos; and documentaries
· Work on projects sometimes by yourself and sometimes as part of a larger production team in which you take on a particular role (eg editor or cinematographer)
· Produce portfolios and show-reels of your work
· Analyse existing Media texts to see how they were made and how they work
How will I be assessed on this course?
You tutors will assess you through a range of written and practical projects as well as oral presentations. There are no written examinations on this course.
What sort of things can I go on to do once I've completed this course?
You could study a wide range of Media and production course at university eg film and video production; video games design; animation; post-production; broadcast technology

The Paston course has an agreement with Norwich University College of the Arts, guaranteeing places, for students who meet the entry requirements for courses in Film & Video Production, Animation, and Games Art Design.
