The BTEC National Diploma in Music Practice focuses on
performing, writing and recording in different styles.

· The music industry (understanding the business)
· Writing music for television and film.
This course will help you to develop the necessary skills for work in the music industry. The emphasis is on practical work and you will have the use of the College recording studios, in addition to access to extensive rehearsal and performance facilities. You will also have the opportunity to have instrument and vocal tuition as well as learn ProTools, the professional audio software standard used throughout the world. You will be given the opportunity to achieve additional qualifications alongside your main course including Guitar Skills and qualifications in Functional Skills.
How will I be assessed?
This qualification is assessed on a continuous basis both by our staff and external moderators through practical and written assignments, with an emphasis on practical work.

On successful completion you may:
Progress to degree level courses in higher education such as the FdA in Popular Music that we offer in partnership with Bath Spa University. This is the preferred choice for many of our students.
Or
Choose from a wide range of career paths in the music industry, there are opportunities in a variety of roles such as Performers, Session Musicians, Songwriters, Managers, Events Management, as well as work in TV and radio.
Achieving this course will give you the equivalent of 3 A Levels and provide entry to study degree level courses.
