*In year two, students can opt to follow a physical theatre or a directing route.

Assessment You will complete a number of assignments for each unit.

Entry Requirements
You will need to have at least one of the following:

· 4 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English Language
· First Diploma, ideally with an overall Merit profile, plus GCSE English Language at grade C or above

You will also need to be able to demonstrate your commitment to the course. If you are successful at interview you will be required to attend a one-day audition workshop. If you fail to attend the audition you will not be considered for the course. Acting auditions: Select a monologue (speech for ONE character) from a PUBLISHED PLAY and present it learnt and secure. Do not write your own speech or perform one written by your teacher. Do not select a monologue from a film. The speech should be no less than TWO minutes in length but no more than FOUR minutes. PLEASE BRING A COPY WITH YOU! When choosing your speech, select a character that you identify with and that suits you. You are strongly advised to select a character that is similar to you in age. There are numerous books in your library of 'audition speeches'. They are a good starting point. Show this guidance sheet to your Drama/English teacher and ask for their advice and direction.
