Who is this course for?

The Certificate in Management Studies is designed to provide a professional qualification for practising managers or those who wish to make a career in management. It provides a broad-based, practical introduction to the key ideas, techniques and overall competencies you need in order to manage effectively and productively in modern organisations.

The qualification links to NVQ Level 5 in Management and forms part of a professional qualification pathway for managers. The programme is designed to be flexible to meet the needs of the target audience and give students access to up-to-date management theory and practices.

It is ideally suited to the needs and aspirations of both those who are new to management and those who need wider managerial understanding and abilities.

Part-time 1 evening per week for 1 year

How will I be assessed?
A wide variety of teaching and learning strategies are employed to ensure that students not only acquire knowledge but are also presented with opportunities to develop and apply higher level skills of analysis and critical evaluation.

Assessment of the six modules consists of a mixture of class tests, presentations and assignments.

The emphasis is on your own professional development. Everything you study is related to the management roles and responsibilities you exercise, and the elements of the programme - course texts, activities and assignments, online resources, and personal and group support - ensure that you can immediately apply newly learned skills, knowledge and techniques in very practical ways.

What can I do after the course?
The Professional Certificate is a recognised qualification in its own right, and is also a route into our Level 7 Professional Development Diploma in Management Studies
