About the course:
The BTEC Higher National Certificate in Building Services Engineering is designed to provide a specialist vocational programme, linked to professional body requirements and National Occupational Standards, where appropriate, with a strong work related emphasis. This qualification provides a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required in the sector and the national recognition by employers allows progression direct in to employment. It is intended for individuals who seek a direct route in employment, or career development in the building services engineering industry, often following successful completion of the National Certificate Level 3, or having had relative experience in design and installation of services or other relative qualifications in learning skills. The two year course is run on a day release basis and the qualification is suitable for, 18+ year old learners, usually employed in either building services design consultancies, Mechanical and Electrical contractors but also caters for most government service employees. It provides a further in-depth learning of all building services, helping to build upon a good basic knowledge of the industry that would have already been gained elsewhere by the student. The course is also suitable for adult learners and offers a specialist work related qualification to confirm and extend their work experience having been employed in the sector. It also provides a suitable qualification for those wishing to change career or move in to a particular area of employment following a career break or for those who may be considering a degree programme in building services engineering.

Course Content:
The course covers in depth design aspects for each service, as well as other practical aspects, such as the science of building services, environmental issues, installation methods, management principles and health and safety, together with team building exercises.

Additional Information:
Attendance - day release. If you are on a qualifying means tested benefit the tuition fees for some courses may be reduced. However, you will still need to pay Exam and College costs. You must claim tuition fee remission by providing evidence before enrolment.
