The programme aims to train senior technicians for the building engineering and construction management professions. Students are also equipped with the necessary foundation knowledge to pursue further professional education in building engineering in Hong Kong or overseas.
About this course
In Year One Semester One, students of the Higher Diploma (Engineering/Surveying streams) are given a common, solid grounding in technical knowledge.
In Year Two, in addition to Core Subjects, specialist studies include those in Building Services Engineering, Soil Engineering, Cost Engineering and Facility Engineering.

Course programme
- Year One: Students follow the same path as the BRE degree programmes in Semester 1 and 2, with 2 tailored subjects for HDBTM on workshop practices, data analysis and information technology.
- During the summer following Year One, students undertake technical training in building information modelling (BIM) at the Industry Centre with professional supports from the industry.
- Year Two: In addition to the Core Subjects, specialist studies are provided in Building Services Engineering, Soil Engineering, Cost Engineering, Maintenance Engineering and Facility Engineering.
- Final Year Project: Each student must take a 5 credit Individual and Integrated Project (BIM orientated). Mentorship support from the industry will be arranged to aid students.
