The programme aims to train senior technicians for the building surveying, quantity surveying and general practice surveying professions. Students are also equipped with the necessary foundation knowledge for further professional education in surveying disciplines in Hong Kong or overseas.
About this course
In Year One Semester One, students of the Higher Diploma (Engineering/Surveying streams) are given a common, solid grounding in technical knowledge.
In Year Two, in addition to Core Subjects, specialist studies include Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying and General Practice Surveying are available as electives.

Course programme
- Year One: Same as the BRE degree programmes in Semester 1 and 2, with 2 tailor subjects for HDBTM on workshop practices, data analysis and information technology.
- During the summer following Year One, students undertake technical training in building information modelling (BIM) at the Industry Centre with professional supports from the industry.
- Year Two: In addition to the core subject, specialist studies are provided in Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying and General Practice Surveying.
- Final Year Project: Each student has to take 5-credit Individual and Integrated Project (BIM orientated). Mentorship support from the industry will be arranged to aid students.
