All applicants will be required to pass an assessment.
You will need 4 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A*-C) including English, maths and science.
You must be employed within the trade area to be able to undertake this apprenticeship. You will have the opportunity to apply critical reasoning and analysis techniques to solve built environment and engineering problems using industry standards, appropriate codes of practice and work-based evidence thereby developing personal and business skills which will enable you to contribute to the demands of a professional environment.

Course programme
Year 1
Building services engineers are responsible for the design, installation and maintenance of systems in new and existing buildings, such as heating, lighting, water supplies, plumbing, control systems and fire, security and alarm systems. You will need the following skills and qualities: a careful, methodical and accurate approach to your work, an understanding of mathematics and science and the ability to work well in a team.
The Higher Apprenticeship in Sustainable Built Environment provides vocational knowledge and skills necessary to those pursuing a career in a variety of disciplines including architecture, surveying, planning, maintenance, construction management, building services or civil engineering.
You will have the opportunity to apply critical reasoning and analysis techniques to solve built environment and engineering problems using industry standards, appropriate codes of practice and work-based evidence thereby developing personal and business skills which will enable you to contribute to the demands of a professional environment.
There are three pathways available so you can specialise in construction and the built environment, building services engineering or civil engineering.
Sixteen modules are required to complete the HND.
