About this course

For admission into the BBA course, applicants must:
- have gained the equivalent of 2 GCE A Levels – D grade minimum; and
- satisfy at least one of following requirements for English proficiency:

a. the medium of instruction of the applicant’s tertiary studies was in English;
b. a score of 525 or better on the TOEFL;
c. a score 5.5 or better on the IELTS;
d. a credit or better in English in the GCE “O” or “A” levels or equivalent; or
e. any other evidence of proficiency in English acceptable to EIA’s Registrar.

Maritime Greenwich College, with the Entrepreneurship Institute Australia (EIA), offers students from all around the world the opportunity to come to London to study the EIA BBA specialising in entrepreneurial management.
EIA is based in Adelaide, South Australia and is accredited by the South Australian Government under the Australian Qualifications Framework to award undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

COURSE OVERVIEW The EIA BBA (Entrepreneurial Management) is designed to impart to students the concepts, values, challenges, opportunities and practices of entrepreneurship and management. The EIA BBA (Entrepreneurial Management) has been designed to:

  • assist students to acquire a systematic and coherent body of knowledge in management and entrepreneurship, the underlying principles and concepts and problem solving techniques to deal with the complex issues that arise from these considerations;
  • develop in students the academic skills and attitudes necessary to comprehend and evaluate information, management and entrepreneurial concepts from a range of perspectives; and
  • develop in participants the ability to review, consolidate, extend and apply the knowledge and techniques learnt to real organisational and entrepreneurial situations and evidence from a range of sources.

The EIA BBA (Entrepreneurial Management) will also educate students about challenges and rewards of entrepreneurship, recognising that entrepreneurial skills and behaviors can be developed. The study of entrepreneurship will provide information on generating innovative ideas, avoiding the problems and pitfalls of entrepreneurship, examining where and how to find assistance and support, and applying learning to personal, community and business ventures.

Subject Descriptions

Information and Communications
This subject develops skills in managing conflict and negotiations, facilitation skills in group problem solving and decision making, the management of effective working relationships and the development of effective information management skills.

People I
This subject is designed to develop skills in managing and developing teams, planning, organising and controlling work to effectively achieve goals and in establishing goals for performance measurement.

Operations 1
The purpose of this subject is to develop skills in the efficient and effective operations in organisations through customer service, productivity, innovation and change.

Finance I
This subject is designed to develop skills in the effective operational and financial performance reports; budgeting; and optimizing financial performance through reducing costs and improving efficiency.

Entrepreneurship
This subject covers the topics of entrepreneurial and innovative cultures in organisations; the analysis of an organisation's internal and external environments and their likely impact; and concepts in forecasting possible organisational and environmental issues and associated opportunities and threats.

Marketing Principles and Practice
This subject requires participants to undertake a project in which they establish operational strategies and tactics that meet the marketing objectives of a selected organisation.

People II
This subject is designed to develop skills in the recruitment, selection, induction, training and development of staff as well as the development of skills to effectively manage grievances, disputes and workplace issues.

Leadership Issues
The purpose of this subject is to enable participants to manage more effectively in conditions of change, uncertainty and ambiguity; facilitate taking difficult decisions; to develop strategic leader behaviours; and create and maintain quality management for organisations and individuals.

Finance II
The aim of this subject is to develop skills in the identification and application of the fundamentals of financial management in the operations of organisations with the emphasis on maximising financial returns to expenditure, and investment in operating and capital assets.

Operations II
This subject is designed to develop skills in the effective and efficient management of operations, logistics, cultural diversity, risk and projects.

International Marketing
The purpose of this subject is to enable participants to identify and employ strategies and actions to effectively identify and capitalise on opportunities in overseas markets.

Strategy Marketing Principles and Practice
This subject enables each participant to develop strategic thinking skills through preparing a strategic management project plan for a selected organisation.

Business Ethics and Social Responsibility
The purpose of this subject is to enable participants to understand the nature of business ethics and social responsibility, identify and evaluate the responsibilities of senior executives and company directors and identify and evaluate cross-cultural ethical codes, positions and dilemmas.

Electronic Commerce
This subject deals with the key concepts relating to electronic commerce and to business on the Internet and the business benefits of electronic commerce to organisations.

Contemporary Legal Issues
The purpose of this subject is to provide participants with an understanding of the basic concepts of relevant legal issues in the workplace so that they can contribute to the effective management of their workplace.

Small Business Management
The purpose of this subject is to enable participants to identify and employ strategies and actions to effectively manage a small business.

Entrepreneurship Issues
The purpose of this subject is to enable participants to understand current issues in entrepreneurship.

Creativity and Innovation
The purpose of this subject is to enable participants to identify and employ strategies and actions to enhance the creativity and innovation of organisations.

Integrated Project 1 & 2
This capstone subject requires participants to develop and initiate an entrepreneurial project for an organization of their choice; and develop a detailed business plan for the entrepreneurial project.

ASSESSMENT
For each module (except the Integrated Project 1 & 2, for which the students will be required to undertake a major assignment), students will be required to complete an assignment and an examination. The assignment is worth 20% and the exam is worth 80% of the overall grade for the subject. The students must pass the examination to pass the subject.

Payment options: UK Residing Students: £2,500 per year Plus £2,000 for Registration and Examination Fees Overseas Students : Total fees for 3 years £8,000 Plus £2,000 for Registration and Examination Fees (Tuition fees: £3,000 first year and £2,500 per year from second year) Registration and Examination Fees: The students are required to register with the examining body (GLG) by paying relevant fees. The current examination fee for the programme is approximately £125 per subject.
