About this course

Ideally, maths and English GCSEs at grade 4/C or an equivalent qualification are required. In order to be selected for this apprenticeship, you will also need excellent communication skills and an ability to work with many different professionals in a typical business environment. IT literacy is important to use software in the workplace. Finally, you must have the drive to complete the demands of the apprenticeship course and become a qualified Business Administrator . Course programme

Year 1

The Intermediate apprenticeship programme will require you to complete a level 2 Diploma in Business Administration. This is a unitised programme, of which 10-12 units are portfolio-based and assessed in the workplace. Units will include: communication in a business environment, understanding employer organisations, principles of administrative services, principles of business documentation, provide reception services, manage diary systems, store and retrieve information, collate and report data and handle mail. This is delivered via e-learning with support from your assessor. You may also be offered additional support to complete functional skills if you haven’t achieved a level 2 qualification in both maths and English.



Additional information

Assessment for this apprenticeship is largely via a portfolio of evidence gathered at work. There are three e-learning units involved with on-screen tests. This will involve college attendance for up to 12 weeks. You will also be regularly visited at work by your Trainer Assessor from Leicester College, who will support you to achieve the standard required.
