You will explore core business disciplines alongside the dynamic nature of enterprise, developing creativity and innovation skills and promoting new ideas. It will equip you with a practical and theoretically strong foundation which will enable you to start and run your own business and/or work effectively as an employee.
The programme prepares you for further education in business and enterprise. Upon successful completion of this foundation degree, you will have the opportunity to progress on to the final year of the BSc (Hons) International Business Management course at the RAU. Progression opportunities will also be available to appropriate honours conversion programmes at other HEIs in the UK.

About this course
This course provides you with the education, knowledge, and skills necessary to gain employment in business.
- A Level: CD – min.56 UCAS Tariff points (to include at least one A Level pass.)
- BTEC: MPP
- GCSE: (Minimum five GCSEs) - English and Mathematics (or Maths Numeracy for Welsh applicants) at Grade C / 4 or higher are required.
- International Baccalaureate: 24 points.
- Access to HE: 45 credits at level 3, of which 15 must be awarded at Merit or higher. (Pass at Literacy & Numeracy skills at level 2 are accepted in lieu of GCSE English & Mathematics)

Course programme
The course has been designed with our partners at Cirencester, utilising the expertise and resources of both institutions.
The core modules of the foundation degree are studied in the first year, with teaching emphasis on practical and work-related situations. Once you have successfully completed the first year of the course, you will progress onto the second year where you will develop broader business and management skills.
The experiential nature of this course means that you will be given a high level of practical, in situ experience. You will have many opportunities to engage with individual entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial businesses, and gain valuable, hands-on ‘real business’ experience and put what you have learnt into practice.
The course will be assessed through a wide range of techniques, including research projects, examinations, case studies, business plans, portfolio, presentations, and practical skills.

Work experience
You will complete a period of compulsory work experience during the summer holiday between your first and second year. This will allow you to put the knowledge and skills that you have learnt during your first year on the programme in to practice in the workplace.
