Applied learning

Work placements

You will have the opportunity to arrange a year-long work placement in between your second and third years. This gives you a real-world experience to prepare you for your future career. Our current students have gained placements in fantastic global and local organisations such as VW, Aston Martin, Land Rover Jaguar, Bosch, Ronseal, Stanley Tools, Black and Decker, Airbus, Rolls Royce, Mercedes Benz, Telefonica, BT, GSK, Johnson and Johnson and PWC.You may be able to study abroad as part of the Erasmus programme.

Networking opportunities

We run a student society called the HR Network which is run by students, for students. Each year there will be a variety of HR social and networking events for students, alumni and industry professionals from companies such as Channel 4, Disney and Cruz Campo.You will meet lecturers who are industry, commerce and skilled HR professionals, enabling you to gain access to a wide range of HR practitioners and specialist development, HR research and consultancy skills. We have a good relationship with the local and national branch of CIPD and we frequently host guest speakers.
