The Pearson BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Business is an ideal stepping stone for further study at a higher level. Many students upon achieving a Merit Grade use the qualification to apply for the BTEC National in Business or the AAT qualifications. Some students continue with GCSEs in other subjects.


You'll be required to have completed Business Level 1 or have 4 GCSEs at grade 3 (D) or above and a good school/college reference.

Course programme

The course is made up of four core units and five specialist units chosen by the college. You will learn about the subjects including business communication, sales and customer service and financial controls.

The course will give you a good grounding in all the areas of business which you will find useful when you enter the world of work.

Course Assessment Method

All units are internally assessed and graded by teachers. There is an examined unit: Investigating Financial controls. We use projects, assignments, presentations and other practical activities to assess you. An overall grade for the qualification is awarded to students who successfully complete all units. Grades awarded are Pass, Merit or Distinction.

The compulsory subjects are:

Unit 1 - Enterprise in the Business World (Exam) Unit 2 - Finance for Business (Exam) There are 10 other subjects which will be studied, where assessment takes place by coursework being submitted.
