About the Course
The BTEC National Certificate is a practical, work-related course. You will study twelve units and the qualification is equivalent to two A levels.
Four Core Units
Unit 1 Exploring Business Activity looks at how a business works, what its objectives are and how it competes with others. You will be able to choose a business to study.
Unit 2 Investigating Business Resources looks at how a business manages its human, technical and financial resources. You may be able to use the place where you work as a focus for this unit.
Unit 3 Introduction to Marketing an interesting unit looking at how a business researches new products and services and analyses how best to market them to their target audience. You will be using a DVD case study.
Unit 4 Effective People, Communication and Information looks at the importance of a business employing the right people and how best to communication different information to different audiences inside and outside the company. You will be assigned a multinational company to focus on for this unit.
Eight Specialist Units
Exploring Creative Product Promotion looks at how a business promotes its products successfully and how it can do better. Market Research takes a deeper look into how and why businesses carry out research.
Business Ethics analyses how a business†moral and/or immoral behaviour can affect those associated with it.
Internet and e-Business looks at how the internet has developed and how it has helped and hindered different businesses.
Understanding Retailing studies the business psychology that determines why retail outlets present our goods and services as they do.
Advanced Database Skills{/} teaches how to use database skills at a level that will prepare you for future employment.
Starting a Small Business sets out how you would start up a business.
Supporting Projects gets you to organise a business project for other members of the Colle

You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. You will focus on a particular subject area and develop a range of specialist skills and knowledge.
This course will give you a greater understanding of how a business works as well as helping develop some of the important skills you will need in the business world today. It is a perfect complement to qualifications in travel, sport and many others.

This course is assessed by coursework alone - there are no examinations. You will be set deadlines throughout the course and are expected to meet them. This course is great if you do not perform well in exams.
Fees
No Course Fees for Under 19's. Over 19's must pay, or claim Level 2 or Level 3 Entitlement for FREE courses .
