Course programme
It sometimes seems that businesses and their managers are at the mercy of economic forces which they do not understand and cannot control; but professional managers, decision-makers and investors can form strategies based on a sound understanding of economic trends. The Business Economics degree focuses on the practical application of economic ideas, knowledge and methods, within the context of decision-making situations in Business.
Using real business statistics, rather than abstract mathematical formulae, this Buisness Economics degree will equip you with a coherent understanding of economics as an impact assessment tool in the commercial environment.
Here at Aberystwyth, you will study Business Economics in a Department, which:
- makes world-leading contributions to research and practice;
- combines traditional academic teaching with up-to-date training in the skills you will need for business;
- works with you as an individual to optimise your career opportunities;
- which is part of a University which, year after year, has one of the highest student satisfaction ratings in the UK country.

Business Economics Degree Years 2+3

At the same time, you start to be introduced to a fuller understanding of the Business environment, in terms, for example, of Corporate Governance and Labour Relations.
Core subjects in Years 2+3 include:
- Macroeconomic Systems;
- Microeconomics: Consumers and Producers;
- Corporate Ethics and Labour Relations;
